On November 9, 2013 we were contacted by an SEO agency who had a client who, when you Googled his name, the words “con artist” were appearing as the first suggestion.
We got to work right away and within 3 months, the problem was fixed. Here’s a summary of the case.
Google Autocomplete Campaign Fix
Volume: Google’s Keyword Planner reported ZERO search volume for the client name + the negative term.
Strategy: We began the campaign at around 20-30 searches per month, for the first month or so, then ramped up to 50-100 searches per month in months 2 and 3. We had a list of 18 positive terms for the client.
Campaign Start Date: November 11, 2013
Autocomplete Corrected: February 17, 2014
Result: It took 13 weeks to push out the negative term. This is one of many Google Autocomplete case studies where we have removed an unwanted suggestion and replaced it with favorable ones that represent the client in a positive light.
A nice side benefit to this case is we got to develop a relationship with another SEO agency who would rather not handle and manage Google autocomplete work. If you operate an agency and have an issue with one of your clients, we’d be delighted to help you. We keep your client’s name confidential and appreciate the relationship we develop with you!
